Poetry, please!

This week we are looking at some different poems to help us think about the sorts of poems and questions which could appear in our SATs reading paper.

Have a look online at some different poetry and choose a poem you enjoy.

What is the name of the poem and poet?

What do you like about the poem and why?

Do you think the poet is giving a message to the reader?

What literary techniques has the poet used in their poem?

  5. the name of the poet is William Shakespeare and the poem is called a fairy song. I like the poem because of the alliteration for example:
    Over hill, over dale,
    Thorough bush, thorough brier!
    Over park, over pale,
    Thorough flood, thorough fire!

  8. my favorite poet is Michele rosen and i like him because he is so original also all of his poems have a moral and he ads onomatopoeia
not before you've washed your dirty sticky face.'
My favaroute part is this part.
    I went upstairs
    looked in the mirror
    and there it was,
    just below my mouth,
    a chocolate smudge.
    The give-away.
Maybe she'll forget about it by next week.

  11. the story i wan't to talk about is called where does broccoli the author is Michael Rosen this is the poem:
    Not many people know
that broccoli grows in the armpits
    of very big green men
    who live in the forest
    and brave broccoli cutters
    go deep into the forests
and they creep up on the
    very big green men.
    They wait for the
    very big green men
    to fall asleep
    and the broccoli cutters
    get out their
    great big broccoli razors
    and they shave the
    armpits
of the very big green men.
    And that’s where broccoli
    comes from.
    Not many people know that.

Just thought I’d let you know.

I like the poem because it's really funny story and its a interesting theory. i don't think hes giving us a message because the story is really silly.
they have used interesting and silly vocabulary
